Session Description
They said it couldn’t be done. But we built a six-week asynchronous online professional development program (PD) for faculty, where they experience being an online student, while applying the principles and the tools to build his/her own online course. After participating in the 6-week Teaching Online Prep Program (TOPP) at Kapi`olani Community College, the participants walked away with solid foundations of an online course to improve upon and facilitate. Participants ranged from a brand new faculty with no teaching experience to those who had taught online for many years. Some “experienced a paradigm shift” and others left “feeling more confident about making adjustments to how I teach online so that students have a better learning experience.”
The PD program will be shared in more detail and the resources used will be shared with those who may be interested in exploring the model.
